Why Being Coachable Is Important
As a company and a team, when we’re looking at potential candidates, one of the most important traits we’re looking for is coachability. We usually ask our candidates to describe a time in their life when coaching made an impact on them.
There are so many reasons why coachability is such a valuable trait in this industry. These are four of the most important:
- Coachable people are willing to take action. They’re action-oriented.
- Coachable people are growth-minded. They’re looking for long-term success in their careers.
- They want feedback and accountability. As an independent contractor, accountability is so important to make sure we reach our goals.
- They are humble. Coachable agents are willing to be wrong and willing to learn from their mistakes.
This is a trait that we’re looking for, and it’s one that I share myself. Over the last 20 years, I’ve worked with some of the top coaching organizations in the country, and I’m still being coached today.
